According to an expert panel, Argentine football legend Diego Maradona suffered a lot during his final days. The panel submitted a report that states that Maradona received inadequate medical care and was left to his fate before he left for the heavenly abode.
Maradona died of a heart attack on November 25 at the age of 60. According to the report, Maradona started to die 12 hours before the moment he was found dead in his bed. Maradona passed away weeks after undergoing brain surgery. A panel of 20 experts were formed to investigate the cause of Maradona’s death.
Maradona’s neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov psychologist Carlos Diaz, two nurses, a nursing coordinator and a medical coordinator are under investigation of Maradona’s death. If they are found guilty of any negligence, they may get a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
Maradona’s five daughters filed a complaint against Leopoldo Luque which prompted the investigation against the accused. Maradona underwent surgery on November 3, four days after his 60th birthday. He was not keeping well and looked in poor health.
Maradona was addicted to banned substances. He was suffering from liver, kidney and cardiovascular disorders before he passed away. The panel concluded that Maradona would have had a better chance of survival with adequate treatment
Maradona was one of the greatest footballers to have ever played the game. He was an idol to millions of the Argentines after leading the South American country to their second World Cup triumph in 1986. He also spent two years with Barcelona.
