A day before Argentina's campaign gets underway in the Copa America, the superstar Lionel Messi has admitted that he is worried about contracting COVID-19. This comes after a spate of positive cases for the virus in the rival teams. Players or officials from Venezuela, Bolivia and Columbia have contracted the virus.

Argentina are scheduled to play against Chile in their opening game of the tournament. However, Messi admitted that the fear of testing positive for the deadly virus is widespread in the squad.

"It worries us because it is a risk for everyone catching COVID-19. We try to be careful but it's not easy. These things happen. We'll try to do all we can so no one gets it but sometimes it doesn't depend solely on ourselves," he said according to ESPN.

As far as Copa America is concerned, Messi is desperate to convert his club success at the international level and help Argentina win the tournament. Brazil won the Copa America two years ago and had defeated Argentina in a controversial semi-final.

Messi hasn't won a title in his career with Argentina and the legendary Football player dreams of doing it before hanging his boots. "I think this is the time to strike a blow and the chance could come in this Copa America. My big dream is to win a title with the national team. I was very close on many occasions and unfortunately it didn't work out. I will keep going until I can't any more.

"I've been lucky enough to win everything at a club level and on an individual level and it would be beautiful to win with the national team as well," Messi added.
