As rumours about Neymar Jr leaving Paris Saint-Germain intensifies, the Brazilian star reportedly wants to retire in France with PSG. The forward, who is currently 31 years old, has a contract with the team in Parc des Princes that runs through 2027. He will have spent 10 years in the French capital if he serves out all those years in his contract.

Despite rumours of a move to the Premier League or a lucrative return to Barcelona seemingly never-ending, reports indicate that Neymar intends to stay where he is. PSG made a record-breaking €222 million (£196 million/$237 million) investment in the mysterious frontman back in 2017. They are aware that if a sale were to be approved, they would struggle to repay such a cost.

Neymar Jr has recently undergone surgery on his right ankle

Neymar, who has scored 118 goals in 173 games for the French club, is anticipated to continue playing for his country through the 2026 World Cup. He will be 35 years old when his contract with the club expires in Paris, and his future with the Ligue 1 champions will likely be decided much later.

Notably, Neymar underwent surgery on his right ankle successfully, the Ligue 1 team reported on Friday. This week, Neymar made a promise to "come back stronger" following his injury in a post on Instagram. "Neymar Jr was successfully operated on late this morning at the Aspetar Hospital in Doha...," PSG said in a club statement.

The French champion did not provide an expected time of return for Neymar, saying, "the player will now follow a protocol of rest and treatment." According to PSG, who made the announcement earlier this week, the Brazilian international will miss the remainder of the season.
