The two-match Test series between Zimbabwe and New Zealand is all set to begin on 30 July 2025. Both matches will take place at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The first Test will be played from 30 July to 3 August, while the second Test is scheduled from 7 to 11 August.
New Zealand have never lost a Test match to Zimbabwe. In 17 meetings, the Kiwis have won 11 games, while the remaining six have ended in draws. This will be the first time the two sides meet in the longest format since 2016, when New Zealand clean swept Zimbabwe 2-0 during their tour.
However, this time the visitors will be without some of their key players. Kane Williamson, who will continue playing County cricket and then The Hundred, and Michael Bracewell, also set for The Hundred, are both unavailable. Fast bowler Ben Sears is missing the series due to a side strain, while Kyle Jamieson has opted to stay back in New Zealand for the birth of his first child.
These absences open the door for new faces. One of them is uncapped pacer Matt Fisher, who has been added to the squad and could be in line for a debut. "Matt's someone we're really excited about," head coach Rob Walter said. "He's one of the fastest bowlers in the country and we think he's got an X-factor."
On the Zimbabwe side, the biggest boost is the return of veteran batter Brendan Taylor. His three-and-a-half-year ban for breaching the ICC’s anti-corruption code ends on 25 July, making him available for the first Test. Zimbabwe will also bank on Blessing Muzarabani, who is set to lead the pace attack.
Where to watch in India?
