Yuvraj Singh praises MS Dhoni for World Cup win, Gautam Gambhir's comment will irk Dhoni fans

The current mentor of Lucknow, Gautam Gambhir posted pictures on Instagram to celebrate the ICC 2011 World Cup victory.

2nd April 2022 marks the 11th anniversary of India’s 2011 World Cup glory. On this day in 2011, the Indian Cricket Team created history as MS Dhoni and Co. beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final to win the 2011 ICC World Cup. For the unversed, the Men in Blue won the 50-over ICC World Cup after 28 years.

Sri Lankan Cricket Team batted first in that encounter and managed to score 274 runs in the first innings. Mahela Jayawardene starred with the bat as he scored a sensational 103-run knock in 88 balls. However, his knock went in vain as India chased down the score in 48.2 overs.

Gautam Gambhir set the tone in the run-chase with a terrific knock of 97 runs in 122 balls. Skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni also played a sensational match-winning knock of 91 runs in 79 balls to guide the team to a 6-wicket win.

To celebrate the special occasion, a lot of cricketers took to their social media handles and tweeted about the victory. Legendary players such as Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Sachin Tendulkar all went nostalgic and shared their feelings on winning the title.

The current mentor of Lucknow, Gautam Gambhir also posted on that special win. Every year, a lot of fans recall MS Dhoni’s winning six in the final of the ICC World Cup 2011 to mark the special occasion. However, Gautam Gambhir, time and again, have stressed on the fact that it was the team effort that won India the World Cup and not just MS Dhoni’s knock in the final.

On Sunday, Gambhir shared a couple of pictures to celebrate the memorable occasion. He also wrote in the caption, “That feeling of fulfilling the dream of a billion people! It was a magical evening!”

To this, Yuvraj Singh left a comment, which read, “The man of the finals! 2011 2007”, #msd.”

In reply, Gautam Gambhir stated that Yuvraj Singh was the Man of the Tournament and it was the teamwork that won them the World Cup.

“And you the man of the tournament! All about teamwork brother,” replied Gambhir to Yuvraj Singh.” Wrote Gambhir
