Legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has heaped massive praise on Rohit Sharma's captaincy. Rohit is currently the captain of the Indian cricket team, but was recently removed by his franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). While picking the best captain India has ever had is tough, picking from the cash-rich league is not.

There is no doubt that Kapil Dev and Mahendra Singh Dhoni top the list of the greatest Indian captains of all time. Entered the 1983 World Cup finals as underdogs and emerged with flying colours to win the title by defeating tournament favourites West Indies - Kapil's heroism was something special. On the other hand, MS Dhoni led the Men in Blue to three major international trophies - 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.

However, even though both Ganguly and Virat Kohli failed to win a major title during their tenure, their contribution to Indian cricket is commendable. Rohit Sharma is the new man who missed out on joining the elite list alongside Kapil and Dhoni. The 36-year-old managed to lead India to glory in the 2023 Asia Cup but failed to do so in the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Now when it comes to IPL, there will be no big debate about who is the best captain in the history of the tournament. Rohit, who has led MI to glory five times (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020), is the ideal candidate to get that tag. However, the talisman of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dhoni has also won five trophies for his franchise and is regarded as one of the most successful skippers in the league.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Yuvraj said that Rohit is one of the best captains ever in IPL and India. He hailed the veteran opener's five title-winning campaigns with MI and guiding India tremendously to the final of the ODI World Cup. "Rohit Sharma is a great captain, he has won 5 IPL trophies, he took us into final, he is one of the great captains ever in IPL & India," Yuvraj said.

Rohit is currently leading India in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home. It remains to be seen whether the Indian Cricket Board will give the prolific batter the responsibility to lead the team in the 2024 World Cup.
