Ace India spinner Ravi Ashwin was involved in a heated exchange with umpire Nitin Menon on Day 3 of the first Test against New Zealand. It is understood that Menon had complained to Ashwin about him blocking his view in the follow-through. Ashwin was not impressed and was seen having a confrontation with the umpire.
Ashwin was getting some decent amount of turn thus he decided to bowl closer to the stump. After finishing his delivery, Ashwin runs across the umpire and the non-striker in his follow-through blinding Menon's view. The umpire pointed this to Ashwin many times but the off-spinner was not willing to change his tactics. Later, Ajinkya also joined the discussion and the three individuals had a long chat.

Rahane: "He's not running on to the danger area."
Nitin Menon : "I can't make the LBW calls."
Ashwin: "You are anyways not making any" 😋😂#INDvNZ | #NZvIND #INDvsNZ pic.twitter.com/VDovbwLBXL
As far as Ashwin is concerned, he was well within the rights to bowl the way he wants until he was preventing himself from landing in the danger area. There was a point when Ashwin got so irked that he waked off from the middle of the conversation. However, Menon stood calm and explained his issues to the bowler.
Ashwin might have been irked by the fact that Menon missed an LBW call earlier in the day. In the 73rd Over, Ashwin bowled a delivery that pitched on leg stump and hit Latham on the front pad. However, the batter was given not out. India didn't review either but the replays showed that the ball would have gone to hit the stumps.
Speaking about the game, it's evenly poised with New Zealand 226-4 at the time of writing. India have enjoyed a good day so far, picking up 4 wickets for 97 runs. Tom Latham is batting on 95. Earlier, Will Young and Latham had taken New Zealand to 129-0 at stumps on Day 2. India were bowled out 345 in their first inning.
