Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh feels the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings are strong favorites to win the IPL 2025 title against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.
Furthermore, Yograj felt that Virat Kohli would stand tall for the Bengaluru franchise. He asserted that if PBKS bowlers don’t get Kohli out in the first 10 overs, he feels the former RCB skipper would take the game away from PBKS.
"If Punjab doesn't get Virat out, then they are in trouble. If he doesn't get out, then he can chase 250 or 300. I believe Punjab can win. The game is done if Virat doesn't get out in the first 10 overs. My senses say Punjab will win," Yograj said as quoted by NDTV.
Interestingly, both RCB and PBKS are yet to lift an IPL title in 18 years of the league’s history. While RCB made it to the final earlier in 2009, 2011 and 2016, they failed to have their hands on the silverware. On the other hand, Punjab made it to the final earlier in IPL 2014 against KKR, but couldn’t get their hands on the title.
Furthermore, Yograj hailed Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer for the way he led the team after being released by the Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions, ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. He added that if Kohli can win RCB a game, Shreyas also has the capability of doing the same for his franchise.
"Punjab has a wonderful captain. He is an amazing player. The game will be between Punjab's captain and Virat Kohli. If RCB has Virat, Punjab has Shreyas Iyer. Punjab should win. If Virat can win RCB a game from any position, Shreyas can do it as well," he added.
