Former Indian fast bowler Yograj Singh, who played in one Test and six ODI matches in the 1980–81 season, ranked his son Yuvraj Singh as the country's best cricket player ever, surpassing both Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

In contrast to his father's remarkably short international career, Yuvraj played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is for Team India from 2000 to 2017 and scored over 11,000 runs while also dismissing 148 batters across formats.

Under MS Dhoni's captaincy, he played for Indian teams that won the 2011 ODI World Cup and the first-ever T20 World Cup in 2007.

“He could’ve played 200 Tests, scored 200 centuries”- Yograj Singh on his son Yuvraj Singh

Indian cricket has produced numerous fantastic players throughout the years, and picking one from the skill pool is not simple. Over the years, fans and experts have been debating "who is the best cricket player," and the topic seems to go on forever.

The most recent addition to the list is Yograj Singh, Yuvraj Singh's father, who also participated in the discussion.

"Who is the best player that India has ever produced?" Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh was asked, in a recent podcast with Krishnank Atrey. Some of the greatest Indians of all time were mentioned by Yograj. But the cricket world was taken aback by his last response.

“If you talk about all-rounders, then Kapil Dev. If you talk about batsmen, then you have Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly, all these guys. But I think Yuvi is topping everybody in my book,” he said.

He couldn't help but praise his son even after calling him Yuvraj Singh. The former all-rounder may have played 200 Test matches during his career, he claimed, praising Yuvraj Singh.

He would have played about 200 Test matches and maybe 200 centuries, which I thought… and he was capable of," he added.

In an interview with InsideSport, Yograj asserted that Yuvraj's sole friend was the renowned batsman Sachin Tendulkar. In response to a question on whether Kohli, as captain, could have assisted Yuvraj in the later years of his career, Yograj attacked the former India captain, claiming that everyone was afraid his son would replace them.

"As I told you, there are no friends in the sphere of success, money, and glory. There were always backstabbers, people who wanted to put you down. People were scared of Yuvraj Singh because they were afraid he would usurp their seats, because he was such a great player created by God Almighty. He has been one of the greatest players, and they were scared – right from MS Dhoni, everybody – 'Oh, he might take my chair,'" said Yograj.
