Bangalore franchise are gearing up to kick off their campaign in the Indian T20 League 2023. On 2 April, they will take on Mumbai in Chinnaswamy. But, before that, on 26 March 2023, they organised an unboxing event at their home ground in order to launch the new jersey for the next season. Along with that, former players like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers were also present as they got inducted into the Hall of Fame of the franchise.
The franchise also retired their respective jerseys as a mark of respect based on their unconditional contributions to the team. During that event, the former Protea batter said that the team is looking good for the new season and every fan needs to back the players to get the trophy this time around. He also used the famous slogan: ‘Ee Sala Cup Namdhe’ (‘This year the cup is ours’).

Listening to that fans went crazy and shared their views on the social media platform. They even claimed that for the last 15 years, the franchise have been using the same slogan. Still, they are yet to win the title. During that event, both de Villiers and Gayle opened up about their potential return. Gayle said: “Absolutely, I would love that. I am ready”. While AB de Villiers said: “I think the team is too good at the moment. We won’t get a chance in the starting XI. We would rather be fans and support the boys to bring the Trophy back home. Ee Saala Cup Namde (This year, the trophy is our’s)”.
AB de Villiers played for the franchise from 2011 to 2021. During that timeline, he played 156 matches and scored 4491 runs, including two centuries. On the other hand, Gayle played 83 matches between 2011 and 2017. In those games, the Caribbean batter smashed 3163 runs, including five centuries.
