Virat Kohli has been one of the top batters for over a decade for team India across all formats. However, after a long dip in form, he has made a comeback and recently, Kohli has been doing good in all three formats. Currently, he is gearing up for the Bangalore franchise for the Indian T20 League 2023.

Now, in a podcast show of the franchise, Kohli shared two former great cricketers’ names and called them GOATs (Greatest of all time). The former Bangalore and team India skipper said: “Sachin Tendulkar and Viv Richards are the two GOATs. They completely changed the game in their generation. Sachin is my hero”.

"I love watching Virat Kohli bat.” - Viv Richards

Listening to that, some fans were left confused and they asked Kohli to take any one of their names. Speaking about Virat Kohli, he was a part of team India when they won the ODI World Cup in 2011. Sachin Tendulkar was also playing in that tournament. Earlier, he also expressed his affection for the former great Caribbean batter, Viv Richards. In 2022, while talking on Star Sports, Kohli said: “No, I wouldn't consider myself the GOAT of cricket. For me, only 2 people qualify for it. It's Sachin Tendulkar and Viv Richards.”

Richards even claimed in an interview in 2013 that Virat Kohli reminds him of his playing days. While talking to PTI, he said: "I love watching Virat Kohli bat. He looks to me like an individual of my own heart. I love his aggression, and serious passion that I used to have. He reminds me of myself. He is an individual who doesn't back off from confrontation; someone who can stand his ground under pressure. I love that as you can't teach these instinctive aspects. Just like me, he loves the ball to come to him. He wants to dive and stop the runs. He is a livewire unlike some fielders, who would just dig a hole and dive in it rather than dive to stop the ball".
