Shubman Gill scored a masterful knock of 101 off 58 balls in Gujarat Titan's (GT) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as Titans wrapped up a 34-run win. With their latest win, the Titans have now qualified for the IPL 2023 playoffs, becoming the first team in this year's edition to reach the playoffs. After Gill's innings, Virat Kohli took to Instagram to praise the young batting sensation for his exceptional knock. In his Instagram story, he wrote, 'There's potential, and then there's Gill. Go on and lead the next generation. God bless you, Shubman Gill'. The 23-year-old scored 13 boundaries and one maximum in his innings.

Besides Shubman Gill, there was another who caught the eyes of the spectators. SRH's leading pacer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, returned with a five-wicket haul, four of which came in the final over of the innings. Notably, Kumar also took the key wicket of Shubman Gill, who looked in total control of his innings.

With just 41 runs coming for the loss of seven wickets, the Titans suddenly collapsed, and the Sunrisers got a breakthrough in the slog overs. With the wicket of Sudharsan, Jansen broke a 147-run partnership in the 15th over. Hardik Pandya, the GT captain, didn't last long, as David Miller died in the following over. The next victim was Rahul Tewatia, who left after SRH had taken four wickets in four overs.

However, Gill continued to bat, and in the 19th over, with a single to long-off, he reached his century in just 56 balls. However, just after reaching his century, Gill was caught by Abdul Samad off Bhuvneshwar on the first pitch of the last over.
