Former Sri Lanka cricketer, Sachithra Senanayake has been banned from traveling abroad for his alleged approach to players for match-fixing. He has been accused of approaching players with match-fixing offers during Lanka Premier League 2020. Three years back, Sri Lanka Cricket staged what was the inaugural season of the tournament. Not to forget, in around 2011-12, two seasons of the Sri Lanka Premier League were played.

That tournament was shut down after the match-fixing issues surfaced. Eight to nine years later, the SLC launched the tournament in the hope of it being clean and integral. Even though there are no match-fixing issues as of now, a former player approaching the current crop for the same is disturbing. Meanwhile, a local court in the island nation has imposed a travel ban of three months.

He has been accused of approaching the players via telephone. The players are believed to have declined the approach.

Talking about the 38-year-old, he was asked to remodel his action in 2014. That year, he was reported for chucking. Senanayaka remodeling his bowling action also remodelled his returns with the ball and eventually, faded away just like Saeed Ajmal after his comeback in 2015. He has played one Test, 49 ODIs and 24 T20Is.

A year before being reported he claimed that he has a lot of variation that helped him picking wickets at the domestic level.

"I have more variations now than I did when I first played for Sri Lanka. I think I'll be able to do well because of those changes. Before, I just bowled the offbreak and the one that goes straight on. Now I have two more - one that goes the other way, and one that keeps low."
