The stage was set at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 26 May 2023 for the qualifier two of the ongoing IPL. Gujarat Titans (GT) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) in this clash. GT came to this clash after getting defeated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in qualifier one. While MI came to this clash after defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the eliminator.
Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked GT to bat first. For GT, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha came out to bat. They both gave a solid start to the team by putting up a partnership of 54 runs in 6.2 overs for the first wicket. Wriddhiman scored 18 runs off 16 balls, including three fours.
GT defeated MI by 62 runs
Then, Gill and Sai Sudharsan managed a partnership of 138 runs for the second wicket. Sudharsan got retired out for 43 runs off 31 balls, including five fours and one six. But, Gill continued his blistering form and smashed his third IPL ton. He smashed 129 runs off 60 balls, including seven fours and 10 sixes. Skipper Hardik Pandya also showed his hitting power as he remained not out on 28* runs off 13 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Finally, GT managed to put up a mammoth total of 233 runs for three wickets in 20 overs.
For MI, both Akash Madhwal and Piyush Chawal grabbed one wicket each. Then, for the chase, both Rohit Sharma and Nehal Wadhera got out cheaply. Then, Cameron Green played some shots and scored 30 runs off 20 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Along with him, Suryakumar Yadav smashed 61 runs off 38 balls, including seven fours and two sixes while Tilak Varma scored 43 runs off 14 balls, including five fours and three sixes. But, finally, they got bundled out for 171 runs in 18.2 overs and GT won the match by 62 runs. Thus, GT will now face CSK in the final of IPL 2023 on 28 May 2023. Mohit Sharma grabbed five wickets for 10 runs in 2.2 overs.
