India's eighth-wicket partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel on the second day of the Nagpur Test has given the hosts a commanding advantage against Australia. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 66, while Patel was batting on 52 not out as the duo defied the Australian bowling to add 81 runs to the score.

The 185-ball stand was a testament to the batting prowess of both players, as Jadeja reached his half-century off 114 balls and Patel got to 50 off 94 balls. After close of play, Patel reflected on his performance and said that he was confident in his abilities with the bat. He stated, "I have been doing well with the bat for the last one year. That confidence is coming in handy. My technique – I always knew it was good. I work on it when I get a break. Work with the coaching staff. They tell me that I have the ability, so I try to contribute."

Patel also had some words of caution for the Kangaroos when asked about the pitch, saying, "Till the time we bat tomorrow the pitch will play well, and when we get the chance to bowl – we’ll find help (laughs)." This statement highlights the confidence that the Indian team has in their ability to take advantage of the conditions and secure a victory in this Test match.

India has won the last three series against Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which dates back to 1996-97. The hosts are the current holders of the trophy and will aim to become the first team to win four consecutive Test series between the two sides. The current partnership between Jadeja and Patel has put India in a strong position to achieve this feat.
