Both India and Australia are currently gearing up for the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India. The match will begin in Delhi on 17 February 2023. However, Virat Kohli had a disappointing outing with the bat while Steve Smith had a moderate outing in the series opener.

Virat Kohli scored only 12 runs off 26 balls. But, Steve Smith scored 37 runs and 25* runs respectively in the first and second innings. However, now ahead of the second Test, Steve Smith came up with his verdict between the cover drives of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. He picked the former India skipper over the current Pakistan skipper.

Pakistan fans have always come up with a comparison between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, especially on the basis of playing the cover drive shot. However, now the star Australia batter has shared that Virat Kohli has a better cover drive than the Pakistan skipper. Speaking of their careers, Virat Kohli has played 491 international matches so far across all three formats. In 547 innings, he has scored 24948 runs including 74 centuries and 129 fifties. On the other hand, Babar Azam has played 241 international matches so far across all three formats. In 272 innings, he has scored 11864 runs including 28 centuries and 80 fifties.

So, Babar Azam needs to be very competitive and consistent for a long time to even reach the level where Virat Kohli is currently. While speaking to paktv.tv, the former Pakistan skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq said: “There shouldn't be a comparison between the two. Kohli has played a lot of cricket, Babar is just starting. When Babar will play the same amount of cricket, then you can make a comparison. Kohli has played more cricket, and no one can match him at the moment. Yes, Babar is a class player and he might achieve the same things as Kohli in the future, but at the moment, comparison between the two doesn't make sense because it's just a start for Babar."
