Rohit Sharma and his men were in action in the second ODI against West Indies in Bridgetown. After winning the series opener with ease, the Men in Blue were looking to seal the three-match series with another dominating win. But, fans were left surprised when Hardik Pandya came out for the toss instead of Rohit Sharma.

He lost the toss as Shai Hope, the Windies skipper asked them to bat first. There, he confirmed that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were given rest as Sanju Samson and Axar Patel replaced them in the final playing XI. However, it was good news for fans to see Samson back in the playing XI.

After the toss, Pandya said: “We were looking to bat first. We want to see how much we can score on this pitch which is a bit up and down. Rohit and Virat have been playing constant cricket, so they are resting in this game. They can be fresh for the third ODI. I think when you get someone out for 115, it's a good effort from the bowlers. Our catching was impressive, but we can improve in certain areas. Instead of losing five wickets, we could have lost only two wickets and finished the last game. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel come in for Rohit and Virat.”

For the Men in Blue, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill gave a solid start as their first wicket fell on 90 runs in 16.5 overs. Gill scored only 34 runs while Ishan scored 55 runs. But, after that, no other batters managed to score big and stitch a partnership as they got bundled out for just 181 runs in 40.5 overs. For the Windies, both Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd took three wickets each. Along with them, Alzarri Joseph took two wickets while both Jayden Seales and Yannic Cariah took one wicket each.
