Mohammad Amir is currently busy playing the ongoing Pakistan Super League for Karachi Kings. As of now, he has played four matches where Amir has picked up four wickets. But, his attitude and behaviour on the field have made headlines so far in the ongoing tournament. On 19 February 2023, he was in action against Lahore Qalandars.

In that match, Mohammad Amir took one wicket for 12 runs in two overs. But, after taking the wicket of Shai Hope, he came up with an obscene gesture. That video has now gone viral and seeing that fans claimed that he did that gesture for the former Pakistan cricketer, Shahid Afridi. The former Pakistan skipper advised him for his on-field behavior in the first two matches for Karachi Kings.

Shahid Afridi said: “Whenever a player doesn't perform, or even if he does, I drop him a message for call him. Likewise, I messaged Amir yesterday. I talked to him respectfully, but I also scolded him. I told Amir, ‘what do you want?’ You have gained so much respect, you faced a blot on your reputation and from there, you made a return. You got a new life, in a way. What are you even trying to do?”

He further added: “Is this the way to play? There are juniors around you, you are using bad words. There are fans who are disheartened to see that. Even we have used such words and sometimes, the camera used to catch us. There are families, kids watching you on television. Aggression is fine, but keep it under control.”

On the other hand, the Karachi Kings skipper, Imad Wasim showed support for Mohammad Amir. He said: "A fast bowler should be aggressive. I don't think he does anything intentionally, it happens in heated moments. As far as there is no objection on him by match officials, I don't have any issue." So, after such a gesture from the Pakistan pacer, fans seemed that it was quite disrespectful to Shahid Afridi.
