Moving into the details, Jaiswal, who opened the innings in the first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds, slammed a 101-run knock off 159 balls with 16 fours and a six before getting bowled against the opposition skipper Ben Stokes.

“I think all the things I do, everything, I enjoy and love it. But some are special, and a first is always first,” Jaiswal said after the day’s play in Leeds.

Interestingly, the majority of the scoring shots in Jaiswal's century innings came on the offside. When asked about the same, the opener reckoned that it’s about how the field set-up is and where the opposition bowls.

“Challenges are always there in cricket. It’s different at different stages. I was just trying to keep faith in my process, about how to play in particular situations, how the field is, where they are bowling, and what the team needs,” he added.

Furthermore, Jaiswal went on to stitch a 129-run stand for the third wicket with the skipper Shubman Gill, before Ben Stokes broke the partnership in the 53rd over on Day 1 of the first innings.

“We spoke a lot in the middle. It was to play session by session, and cash in when there is a loose ball. There was amazing camaraderie. It was great to bat with him. He was calm and composed,” Jaiswal stated.
