“Asked me to apologize to everyone”- Yashasvi Jaiswal on Rohit Sharma scolding him for missing team bus in Australia

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal spoke out about being reprimanded by Rohit Sharma and being left behind at the team hotel in Adelaide during the recent BGT 2024-25 series. The incident occurred as the team bus was departing for the airport to head to Brisbane for the match.

Jaiswal was reportedly late to meet in the hotel lobby before departure, causing captain Rohit Sharma to lose his cool and abandon the squad vehicle, asking the logistics manager to get him. After a brief conversation, the bus left without Jaiswal, and a car was eventually arranged to take him to the airport.

Jaiswal described what happened that day and why he was late for leave.

“Oh, I thought our arrival time was our departure time, so I got a little confused,” Jaiswal said on Raj Shamani’s YouTube channel.

When asked if he received a scolding from team management, Jaiswal said, “The scolding wasn’t that bad. I said, ‘Sir, it was a genuine mistake, and I am very sorry.’ He said, ‘It’s okay, but be aware.’ He also said if I feel unsure, I can talk about it.”

Jaiswal further said that Rohit Sharma accepted the situation casually and joked about it. Jaiswal also stated that he accepted responsibility for the delay.

“Rohit bhai was very funny in those moments as well—funny in a good way, like a little entertaining. He asked me to apologize to everyone. When I saw the bus had left without me, I said, ‘Okay, fine, I deserved that, and I accept the punishment. I should be on time. How could I miss it? I shouldn’t have missed it,” Jaiswal added.

Jaiswal had a good BGT 2024-25, scoring 391 runs in 10 innings, including a century.
