As India is gearing up for the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand, many cricket pundits have hailed Indian skipper Virat Kohli as the most important player for the Indian contingent. However, former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria doesn’t agree with the same as he believes that Rohit Sharma will be more important for India in the WTC final.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaneria asserted that Rohit has a better technique than Virat and is more competent when it comes to scoring big knocks. He further added that though the opening batsman hasn’t been successful in getting a big score lately, he is likely to score a double hundred during the summit clash.

"No doubt, Kohli belongs to a different class altogether but I feel Rohit is better than him technique-wise. Kohli is a superstar, a legend but Rohit has a knack of getting big scores. Although that has not happened in a while, every big player I feel scores big in important matches. He is due for a double-century," Kaneria said.

Rohit has been often questioned for his conduct on the seam-friendly pitches. However, the Pakistan leg-spinner believes that the pitch at Southampton will suit the Indian opening batsman and he will be able to play a match-defining knock for his team.

"The wicket in Southampton will suit him and I believe he is a key player. It is important that he scores run and I am sure he will make big runs because that’s the kind of player he is. In Australia, he couldn’t get a big score but that doesn’t mean he can’t. Rohit will be the key player for India in batting," Kaneria concluded.
