WPL 2026: RCB Women lift the title for second time, defeating Delhi Capitals

On Thursday, February 5, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) secured the Women’s Premier League (WPL) title for the second time, defeating the Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) by six wickets in the grand finale in Vadodara.

Delving into the details of the game, Delhi Capitals batted first after losing the toss and posted a whopping 203/4 in 20 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues (57) and Laura Wolvaardt (44) were exceptional in the first innings. 

In the chase, Smriti Mandhana (87) and Georgia Voll (79) played exceptional knocks as RCB Women finished off the game in 19.4 overs with six wickets in hand. Chinelle Henry's two wickets went in vain for the Capitals.

“Very pleased. Again, I feel RCB fans are the best fans in the world, wherever we play, we get a lot of support. Even for now, they keep waiting. They know that again, I feel whatever we do is for them. And yeah, I mean, three titles in three years for the franchise,” Smriti Mandhana said after the win. 

“Again, before going back, I have to thank all the RCB fans again turning up in huge numbers. This one's for you guys. And I said that, I said this in 2024, I'll say it again, that this time it's - Ee sala cup namdu 2! (This year cup is ours) (flashes the number 2 symbol with her left hand) So let's go,” she added.

To Smriti and the whole squad and the management team, a big congratulations for this tremendous victory. You guys deserve this undoubtedly. “That was an unreal. WPL FINALS RCB were just too good throughout the tournament Feel for DC , 4 finals on the trot , that's an amazing achievement in itself and they've found a long term leader in JEMI,” Dinesh Karthik tweeted.
