The Indian Cricket Board’s idea of the Women’s T20 League’s inception got a big boost with the recently-concluded inaugural edition of the Women’s U-19 20-20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board has announced the dates of the auction of the first-ever edition of a cash-rich Women’s T20 tournament; inspired by the idea of a highly successful men’s Indian T20 League.


A total of 409 players out of 1525 who registered, will go under the hammer during the bidding contest between five participating teams in the auction for the inaugural season.

With said that, here we’ll have a look at all the details of the auction to be organized by the Indian Cricket Board for a remarkable franchise league for Women’s cricket.

Date – Monday, the 13th of February.

Venue – Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.

A total of five teams would be participating including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Lucknow.

Purse value per team – INR 12 Crores

The number of players allowed in one squad: 15-18

Notably, the number of slots for five participating teams would be 90, out of which 30 slots are already reserved for overseas players. INR 50 Lakh is the highest base price having 24 players in this marquee set of players.

Speaking of Indian players falling in the highest bracket, the list includes the likes of senior players Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, and India's Under-19 20-20 World Champion skipper Shafali Verma.

Whereas Australian veteran Ellyse Perry alongside New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine and Caribbean star Deandra Dotting are the overseas players registered themselves in the highest bracket of INR 50 Lakhs.
