23 June 2013 was one of the greatest days in the history of Indian Cricket as the Men in Blue won the Champions Trophy final against England. The final took place at Edgbaston. But, due to rain, the 50-over contest became a 20-20 affair. So, now, on 23 June 2023, this epic triumph completes 10 years and fans shared their views on social media.

Speaking of the match, Alastair Cook won the toss and asked India to bat first. However, Rohit Sharma failed cheaply for just nine runs. But, Shikhar Dhawan continued his rich-vein form as he scored 31 runs off 24 balls, including two fours and one six. Then, Virat Kohli showed a solid temperament at the number three.

Ravindra Jadeja won the Player of the Match award

He scored 43 runs off 34 balls, including four fours and one six. After that, Ravindra Jadeja also scored 33* runs off 25 balls, including two fours and sixes each. Thus, they finally managed to score 129 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. For England. Ravi Bopara was the star of the show with three wickets for 20 runs in four overs. James Anderson, James Tredwell, and Stuart Broad took one wicket each. In reply, England were in trouble after losing four wickets for 46 runs in 8.4 overs. Then, Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan put up a steady partnership of 64 runs for the fifth wicket and England were looking clear favourites as they needed 20 runs only from 15 balls.

But, during the 18th over, Ishant Sharma took the wickets for Bopara and Morgan on two consecutive deliveries and the equation came down to 19 runs in two overs with four wickets in hand. Then, in the next over, Jadeja conceded just four runs and took two wickets. MS Dhoni showed faith in Ravichandran Ashwin and gave him the responsibility to bowl the last over with 15 runs to get for England. But, he did not disappoint as Ashwin conceded only nine runs and India won the final by five runs. Ravindra Jadeja won the Player of the Match award while Shikhar Dhawan won the Player of the Tournament award. However, it was the last time when the Men in Blue managed to win a major trophy till now.
