Champions Trophy 2017, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, and now the latest 20-20 World Cup in 2021, three instances were India batters have struggled to negate the left-arm fast bowling. The latest to exploit this weakness is Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who picked two wickets of openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to set up a 10-wicket victory for his team in the global event. Before the blockbuster match, the experts were constantly pointing out India T20I vice-captain Rohit Sharma’s flaws of the incoming ball from that angle.

Shaheen was pinpoint with his line and lengths and pegged India back by picking up two vital wickets in the power play. After the post-match press conference skipper, Virat Kohli was asked a few questions of team combinations to which he was left bemused, to say the least. The first question asked by the journalist was whether Rohit Sharma should have been left from the team against Pakistan and should Ishan Kishan have played instead.

Sensing there was an opportunity to have fun and be witty at the same time, Kohli termed the question of the journalist as ‘brave’. "That's a very brave question. What do you think, sir? I played the team that I thought was the best. What is your opinion?"

The journalist didn’t stop at it and asked the India skipper will you drop Rohit Sharma for the next match? This question from the journalist left Kohli in complete disbelief and he hit back at it by saying, do you know what he did in the last game we played? Unbelievable (laughs). Sir, if you want controversy, please tell me before so I can answer accordingly," he added.

India will next be up against New Zealand in the 20-20 World Cup. The match will be played on Sunday (October 31)
