Will Virat Kohli be ruled out of IPL 2025 with finger injury? RCB head coach opens up

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Virat Kohli injured his finger while fielding against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, April 2.

On the fifth ball of the 11th over, Sai Sudharsan’s sweep shot off Krunal Pandya’s bowling went straight towards Virat Kohli, who was fielded at deep mid-wicket. As Kohli tried to stop the ball, it hurt his finger and went past him towards the boundary, leaving the fielder in deep pain.

However, the RCB head coach, Andy Flower, has opened up on Kohli’s injury, stating that all is well with the opening batter. "Virat looks fine, he's okay," said Andy Flower in the post-match press conference after losing to GT by eight wickets.

After losing the toss, RCB was tasked to bat first. At one stage, they were struggling at 42/4 in 6.2 overs with top-order batters finding the pavilion route.  Liam Livingstone's 54 off 40 and Tim David's 32 off 18 propelled RCB to 169/8 in 20 overs.

Mohammed Siraj, who was earlier part of the RCB set-up, had the best outing, giving out only 19 runs and scalping three important wickets to turn the game upside down towards the Gujarat Titans. Flower was all praises towards the pacer.

"Siraj bowled very well, didn't he? It is great for him to come here and do that. I thought he bowled an outstanding spell with the new ball. His lines were tight, and the lengths were good. He threatened the stumps a lot,' Flower added.

"We all rate Siraj very highly, and we love him. I think we had a good auction. I wish him all the success in the world. We are happy with the squad that we have got," he stated.
