He played the second game for Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 (VHT) on December 26, 2025. Delhi faced off against Gujarat in their second game, which is being played at the CoE ground in Bengaluru.

Chintan Gaja, the captain of Gujarat, won the toss and decided to bowl first. Gujarat got rid of Nitish Rana (12) and dismissed openers Priyansh Arya (1) and Arpit Rana (10) cheaply.

Gujarat was tormented in the first half of the match by Virat Kohli, who was in a punishing mood with the bat. He appeared destined for another century after hitting his half-century in just 29 balls.

Together with Rana, he scored his 59th List-A century in his 344th game and contributed 72 runs for the second wicket.

With a strike rate of 126.22 with 13 fours and one six, Kohli was eventually dismissed for 77 runs in 61 balls. Vishal Jayaswal removed him, and Urvil Patel, the keeper, stumped Kohli.

Delhi went on to make 254/9 in 50 overs, thanks to captain Rishabh Pant’s brilliant 70 in 79 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. For Gujarat, Vishal Jayaswal took 4/42, while Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets.

Who is Vishal Jayaswal—the spinner who dismissed Virat Kohli stumped?

Vishal Jayswal, the 27-year-old left-arm spinner from Gujarat, grabbed attention thanks to him dismissing the India ODI great Virat Kohli. This dismissal gave Jayaswal a defining moment of his career thus far.

Although Jayswal made his senior debut for Gujarat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2022 and the Vijay Hazare Trophy in November 2023, his true strength is in red-ball cricket.

In the 2022–2023 U23 CK Nayudu Trophy, he was the most impressive bowler, taking the most wickets (70) and helping Gujarat U23 win the championship.

Because of this, Vishal Jayswal made his Ranji Trophy debut against Tripura in Ahmedabad in February 2024. Since then, his first-class stats have been outstanding, with 40 wickets at an average of 23.52 in 11 games, a strike rate of 44.6, and best figures of 6 for 59.

Nothing could have compared to what happened today, despite everything he has accomplished in his career thus far. After hitting a century in his last match for Delhi, Kohli was in superb form, sprinting to a fifty off of 29 balls, and seems poised for another significant score.

When Kohli appeared to be unstoppable, Jayswal hit a wonderfully tossed-up delivery that drew him out of the crease and beat the outside edge. Urvil Patel then finished the stumping to remove Kohli for 77.

For Vishal Jayswal, it was a pivotal moment in his career, a performance he will never forget, and possibly the one that signaled his big-stage debut.
