When will Rohit Sharma next play for Team India?

Team India will be in action from 20 June 2025 as they face England in a five-match Test series in England. But this time around, they will not have the services of their two veteran and experienced players, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Both of them have announced their retirement from the longest format of the game. Hence, they are now only available for the ODI format for India, and the big question is when these players will be in action next.

Rohit Sharma played a huge role both as a batter and the skipper during India’s recent ICC Champions Trophy triumph. Once again, when he returns to action for India in ODIs, he will be crucial, with a focus on the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Considering India’s upcoming schedule, Rohit is most likely to be back in action during the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. That series is scheduled to take place from 17 to 23 August. The first two games are going to be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, while the last game will take place in Chattogram.

However, there are some reports that the Bangladesh tour might not happen due to unforeseen geopolitical turmoil in India following the Pahalgam terror attacks. If that series is cancelled, the current ODI skipper of Team India is most likely to be in action during the Australia tour, where India are scheduled to play three ODIs from 19 to 25 October.

After that, India will once again play ODIs in December at home against South Africa. So, fans will be hoping to see their captain in form in these upcoming games.

Rohit was recently seen in action for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL. He had a difficult start to the season, but as the tournament progressed, he came back into form and eventually finished the season with 418 runs in 15 innings, including four fifties.

Unfortunately, MI lost against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2 and got knocked out. But seeing Rohit crawling back into form in the tournament showed how much his inclusion will still benefit India in the coming days in the 50-over format.
