What went wrong between Shikhar Dhawan and his ex-wife Aesha Mukerji?

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and Aesha Mukerji divorced in 2023 after a Delhi High Court ruled that the latter inflicted mental cruelty on her husband. Not long ago, the couple used to be trending for their fitness goals and Dhawan used to post funny videos with his son Zorawar as well. Shikhar Dhawan and Aesha Mukerji met each other via social media. Aesha was 10 years older than the cricketer but the age gap wasn’t an issue for both of them as they got married in 2012. Dhawan was an ace cricketer and one of the first names on the Indian team sheet then, Aesha was a former kickboxer. She was born to a Bengali father and a British mother in Kolkata but her family moved to Australia when he was just eight years old.

In fact, when Shikhar met her, Aesha was already a divorcee with two daughters from her first marriage. After getting married in 2012, Dhawan and Aesha had a son together in 2014 and they named the baby boy Zoraver. However, things started going south between them within a few years. 

Shikhar wanted his wife to move to India with him, but Aesha rejected it. According to reports, Aesha, in fact, forced the cricketer husband to buy properties in her name in Australia. This led to several fights between the couple ultimately leading to their separation and divorce. In 2023, the Indian court granted Shikhar a divorce from Aesha on grounds of cruelty.

Earlier on social media, Dhawan revealed that he has been blocked by Aesha from all the platforms and has had no contact with his son Zoraver. Even when he announced his retirement last year, Dhawan hoped that his son would get the news of his retirement from cricket through social media.

Currently, Shikhar Dhawan lives in India and is taking part in the T20 leagues for the retired cricketers while Aesha is living with her son and two daughters of her previous marriage in Australia.
