A Full 50-over game will be played and will start at 3 PM local. The match will continue on Monday and will start at the same score at 147-2. It should be noted that a minimum of 20 overs is required to be bowled in the two innings to get a result.  If the Super Four game between the two teams is washed out then both teams will have to split points amongst themselves and India will play Sri Lanka on September 12 at the same venue.

The Group Stage game at Pallekele was also washed out due to rain in Asia Cup 2023

The first India-Pakistan Group Stage game at Pallekele was abandoned due to rain and they teams had to settle for one point each as was the case then. The weather has been a cause of concern in Sri Lanka with most games having delays or completed getting ruled out due to rain, Though it is good for the players as they get some rest.

It is not the best for them ahead of the World Cup as they would not be able to get into proper match rhythm and fitness ahead of the big tournament. India have only three ODIs to play against Australia at home before the start of the World Cup. The Men in Blue also have some injury concerns as Shreyas Iyer got injured yet again ahead of the match against Pakistan.

KL Rahul was drafted in as a last-minute change into the lineup. It is to be noted that KL Rahil is also making a comeback from injury. With the World Cup less than a month away, these are not good signs for the Men in Blue ahead of the big tournament.
