Team India is set to begin their five-match T20I series against England under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy on January 22, 2025. The series opener will be held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. 3rd Match
In the final match at Nottingham, England aimed to salvage some pride. Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bat first, leading his side to a formidable total of 215/7 in 20 overs. Dawid Malan played a spectacular knock of 77 off 39 balls, striking at 197.43 with six fours and five sixes. In response, Suryakumar delivered a breathtaking innings of 117 off 55 balls at a strike rate of 212.72, featuring 14 fours and six sixes. Despite his efforts, India managed only 198/9 in 20 overs, falling short by 17 runs. England’s Reece Topley was named Player of the Match for his impressive figures of 3/22 in four overs.
In the series, Suryakumar was the leading run-scorer, amassing 171 runs in three innings at an average of 57.00 and a strike rate of 201.17, including one century. Hardik Pandya took the most wickets for India, claiming five in two matches with an economy of 8.85. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named Player of the Series for his outstanding bowling, taking four wickets in two matches at an economy of 6.25.
