After an impressive performance in the shorter formats, West Indies will look to dominate Sri Lanka in the Test series as well. They’re coming back from a solid series win against Bangladesh in Bangladesh and boast of a quality all round team. Though their record hasn’t been that great of late, they’ll fancy their chances against a team, that too is struggling to find momentum in the longer format.
Sri Lanka will be without the services of Kusal Perera and Angelo Matthews but their batting still looks pretty decent with Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Niroshan Dickwell at their disposal. However, they’ll be concerned about their bowling department, who doesn’t seem to have a bowler that can rip through a batting order. Sri Lanka relies a lot on their spinners but as we saw in the ODIs , the surface is not that spin friendly. West Indies, on the other hand, have a strong pace attack in Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel and Alzarri Joseph. The hosts have a great record at this venue and have defeated teams like England, New Zealand and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka will rest their hopes on Dinesh Chandmal and Dimuth Karunaratne. Lahiru Thirmanne, Niroshan Dickwella and Dhananjaya de Silva too need to come good.
