A three-match ODI series is all set to take place in Tarouba, West Indies, between Pakistan and the West Indies. The series will begin on August 8 and run until August 12. So far, it has been a fruitful tour for the Men in Green, as they won the three-match T20I series 2-1. Now, they will look to carry that winning momentum into the ODI leg.
However, ahead of the ODI series, the visitors have suffered a major blow as star batter Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out. He sustained a left hamstring strain during the second T20I against the West Indies, which also kept him out of the playing XI in the third T20I.
As a result, he will miss the ODI series and begin rehabilitation under the supervision of the PCB medical team at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The PCB is yet to announce a replacement for the squad.
Looking at the head-to-head record between these two teams, they have faced off in 137 ODIs. Pakistan have won 63 matches, while the West Indies have won 71, with three games ending in a tie.
The last bilateral ODI series between these two sides was in 2022 in Pakistan, where the Men in Green comfortably won 3-0. The last time Pakistan played an ODI series in the West Indies was back in 2017, and they won that three-match series as well, 2-1.
Overall, in ODIs played in the West Indies, Pakistan have won 15 out of 33 games, while the home side has won 16. Two matches ended in ties.
Meanwhile, the West Indies will be eager to bounce back, having suffered a humiliating 0-3 defeat in their last ODI series against England. That series marked their most recent outing in the 50-over format, and the upcoming matches present both a challenge and an opportunity to deliver improved performances in front of their home crowd. However, the West Indies squad for the series is yet to be announced.
