West Indies are a good T20 team, India should not take them lightly: Aakash Chopra

Both teams will play three T20Is between February 16 to 20.

India managed to whitewash West Indies rather comfortably in the recently concluded three-match ODI series. The T20I series between these two sides are all set to start from February 16.

It is to be noted that the men in maroon recently defeated England in the five-match T20I series at home. Thus, Aakash Chopra urged the men in blue to not take them lightly. He spoke about how strong Windies are in the shortest format of the game.

“This team [West Indies] plays well according to the T20 format. They have all the required components. Their team is good, don’t take them lightly at all because they have a lot of strikers. From No. 1 to No. 9, you get strikers, you get multi-skilled players,” said Aakash Chopra while speaking on his YouTube channel.

Kieron Pollard should take a little more responsibility: Aakash Chopra

“But the story in the end will be in what fashion they play. I think Kieron Pollard should be fit and available now and he should lead from the front, he should take a little more responsibility,” he added.

In the meanwhile, the cricketer-turned-commentator also spoke about Nicholas Pooran. He expected the keeper-batter to come good during this series. He also expected the likes of Dominic Drakes and Rovman Powell to fire too.

“Nicholas Pooran will have to complete the task now. There is no pressure now, this is your format. You have to boss this format. I am really looking forward to seeing Rovman Powell and Dominic Drakes, if he gets a chance,” said Chopra.

Pooran recently grabbed the headlines for fetching an INR 10.75 crore contract with Hyderabad in the recently concluded mega auction. However, he hasn’t been in the best of form of late. The West Indian struggled in the one-day series against the Sharma-led side as well.

“The IPL auction is done and dusted. We thought Nicholas Pooran’s price was going slightly down but it went in the other direction. Jason Holder, Rovman Powell, Odean Smith – everyone got a lot of money. They will have to perform here,” added Chopra.
