Team India bowling coach Morne Morkel has opened up on Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj suffering minor injuries on the third day of the Manchester Test, adding that they are alright to bowl on Day 4 of the game.

Interestingly, the Indian pacers lacked a bit of energy on the third day of the Test as their speeds dropped a bit. A lot of fans were confused about Bumrah leaving the field in the second session and returning to the field before the tea break.

Moreover, Bumrah looked a bit off in the third session despite taking the wicket of the keeper-batter Jamie Smith. On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj also struggled with a niggle but continued to bowl.

Morkel, who attended the post-day press conference on Day 3, asserted that Bumrah rolled his ankle going down the stairs, while Siraj also had the same issue on one of the footholes. However, he added that both are doing well.

"Yeah, unfortunately, when we took the second new ball, Bumrah rolled his ankles going down the stairs, and then Siraj also I think rolled his foot in one of the footholes. But they, they seem to be OK,” Morkel said.

Interestingly, Indian pacers completely lacked energy on the third day of the Manchester Test as pacers like Bumrah, who used to bowl above 140, could bowl in 120s to 130s. On the other hand, debutant Anshul Kamboj could also bowl in lower 120s.

"That's something that we're definitely also trying to get our heads around. On a surface where it gets a little bit flatter, you need a little bit of energy behind the ball, and I think, you know, that's definitely one of the factors for us so far in our bowling innings is just getting that little bit of extra zip off the wicket to create the opportunities for caught behind and LBW. But yeah, to look at the workloads of the guys like Siraj and those sort of guys. They've had heavy workloads. For Anshul, it's his first Test match so far and it's important for us that we want to grow and develop a nice fast bowling unit,” he added.

"So not to judge on that. I think it is also a heavier sort of outfield. But in terms of commitment and effort that the guys have put in, I don't think we can fault that. But it's just that, you know, that's a good point you made. You needed a little bit of energy on the ball on, on good surfaces where the ball at times is not doing as much," he stated.

At stumps on Day 3, England ended on 544/7 with the lead of 186 runs.
