'Welcome to the acting world'- Twitter lavishes praise on Irfan Pathan for his acting debut in the film 'Cobra'

After retiring from international cricket in 2020, Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has now made an entry into the world of cinema with his first film ‘Cobra’. The film was released worldwide on Wednesday and has been receiving good reviews from the audience.

Cobra, which is a Tamil-language action thriller film, is written and directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu and produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar, under the banner 7 Screen Studio. The film stars Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role alongside Srinidhi Shetty, Irfan Pathan, K. S. Ravikumar and Roshan Mathew. The music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with cinematography handled by Harish Kannan and edited by John Abraham and Bhuvan Srinivasan.

The trailer of the film, which was released on 25th August, has garnered over 11 million views so far. The first look of the movie was enthralling where Pathan was seen doing action sequences. In the movie, Pathan plays the role of a Turkish Interpol officer, Aslan Yilmaz who investigates about the assassinations of Orissa's CM and Prince of Scotland. After much effort, Yilmaz finds out that the mastermind behind the killings is ‘Cobra’. What follows after is an action-packed journey of Yilmaz trying to capture ‘Cobra.’

As soon as the trailer of the film hit the internet, Pathan’s former teammates shared their reactions on the first look. Cricketers, Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa and Deepak Hooda took to Twitter to congratulate Pathan and wished him good luck for the success of the film. The film has hit the theatres today and Pathan, in particular, has been receiving praise for his role.

Pathan made his debut for team India at the age of 19 way back in 2003. He represented India in 29 Tests, 120 ODIs and 24 T20Is. The all-rounder was a part of the Indian team that won the ’20-20 world cup in 2007 where he received the player-of-the-match award in the final against Pakistan.
