Former legendary skipper Sourav has heaped his praises on the senior batter and former skipper Virat Kohli. Actually, Virat is in the headlines of social media for the last few days since he scored his 71st international century after enduring a long poor run of form with the bat. Many cricketers and fans praised him for a stellar comeback in the form against Afghanistan in the last match of India during the Asia Cup 2022.

I played in my generation, and he will continue playing, probably playing more games than I did - Sourav Ganguly on Virat Kohli

“We played in different generations, and we played a lot of cricket. I played in my generation, and he will continue playing, probably playing more games than I did,” said Ganguly in his statement on the 33-year-old.

“I don’t think that (captaincy) should be the comparison… The comparison should be in terms of skill as a player. I think he is more skillful than I’m,” he added later.

Later on, Ganguly also talked about changing phases in cricket for the last two years during the COVID outbreak in the world and its impact on cricket and the players as well.

“Currently, I have played more than what he has but he’ll get past that. He is tremendous. Cricket has become a bit more hectic, and busy. COVID for the last two seasons has made it even tougher because of quarantine and all that went on. But the rewards are good,” mentioned Ganguly.

“I don’t get to see them. The poor guys travel a lot. Everybody has been under media scrutiny. Just the names keep changing over a period of time. I won’t get to know half of it because I didn’t read so much. I would enter a hotel and the first thing I would say at the reception, ‘Boss, don’t put the newspaper under my door in the morning,” he concluded.
