In an interesting turn of events, the semi-final clash between the India Champions and Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL 2025) has been called off after the Indian players decided to pull out of the game due to the ongoing cross-border tensions between both countries.

It’s important to note that the Indian Champions also pulled out of the league phase contest against the Pakistan Champions for the same reason. That said, Pakistan Champions will now advance to the grand finale, scheduled on Sunday, August 2.
On Wednesday, July 30, the official sponsor of the WCL 2025 campaign, EaseMyTrip, had also withdrawn its association with the match.
"Despite entering into a 5-year sponsorship agreement with the World Championship of Legends (WCL) two years ago, our stance has always been clear - EaseMyTrip will not be associated with or participate in any WCL match involving Pakistan,” EaseMyTrip’s statement read.
"We proudly continue to support the India Champions and stand firmly by our team. However, as a matter of principle, we do not support or promote any match that includes Pakistan. This position was communicated unambiguously to the WCL team from the beginning. EaseMyTrip supports Team India, but will not engage in any match featuring Pakistan,” the statement further read.
It’s worth noting that the Indian Champions squad boasts retired Indian players, namely Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Stuart Binny, Piyush Chawla, Suresh Raina, and many more.
The winners of the second semi-final between Australia Champions and South Africa Champions will face Pakistan Champions in the grand finale.
Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also faced severe criticism for agreeing to play against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 campaign, scheduled to be played in September this year.
