South Africa's aggressive top-order batter Laura Wolvaardt is set to feature for Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming Women's Big Bash League season. She was the best batter for the Strikers last season scoring 347 runs at an average of close to 27. Wolvaardt has been playing some brilliant cricket of late and is also known for her exceptional off-side play.

She is in good form at the moment and would love to make the most of it in the upcoming season. Wolvaardt has already impressed in the ongoing West Indies tour with back to back half-centuries in the ODI series. In the second T20I, she also smashed four consecutive sixes to finish the innings on a high.

Laura also featured for the Northern Superchargers in the inaugural edition of The Hundred amassing 181 runs at an average of around 36 and the strike-rate close to 117. Wolvaardt is the first overseas player to be signed this season for the Strikers. Apart from her, Nadine de Klerk, Anneke Bosch (both Brisbane Heat), Mignon du Preez (Hobart Hurricanes), Marizanne Kapp (Perth Scorchers) are the other South African players to play in the league this time around.

"We are thrilled that Laura will be back in Adelaide this season, she is someone that adds immeasurable quality to our team both on and off the field," Strikers' general manager Kate Harkness said according to ESPNCricinfo. "Laura is one of the most talented cricketers in the world, and to have so much experience at such a young age is an incredible achievement," she added.
