WATCH: Wanindu Hasaranga breaks down at sister’s wedding, video goes viral

Wanindu Hasaranga had a great Lanka Premier League (LPL) for B-Love Kandy as he finished the tournament as both the highest run-scorer (279 runs) and highest wicket-taker (19). He also bagged the Player of the Tournament award and also hit the most number of sixes (14) in the tournament.

So, in this upcoming Asia Cup fans are expecting him to shine for the defending champion. However, recent reports came out that he could miss the upcoming tournament due to a hamstring injury sustained during the recently concluded LPL 2023. But, now a video went viral where the Lankan spinner was seen getting emotional at his younger sister’s wedding.

Wanindu Hasaranga sustained the injury in LPL 2023 Qualifier 2

Speaking of the video, Hasaranga could not hold back his tears at his younger sister’s wedding. He was also seen hugging his sister and most probably his brother-in-law. He suffered the injury during the qualifier 2 against Galle Titans and now, he is set to undergo a fitness test in the coming days. The result of that will determine his chances of being available for the tournament. Hasaranaga did not play in the LPL final due to the injury as Angelo Mathews led the team. 

After his team’s victory and winning the Player of the Tournament award, he said: "I'm very happy to have contributed with the bat. Our head coach Mushtaq Ahmed asked me to bat at the top of the order, and I also wanted to do something with the bat. Whether I'm captaining or not I try to do my best. This is very special because I contributed with the bat too. The foreign players played well. We started badly, but then we went to Kandy and won three out of three there and came back and did well here." 

Hasaranga played a crucial part for Sri Lanka when they won the Asia Cup 2022. Hence, it will be interesting to see whether he will manage to get a place in the squad for the Lankas for this upcoming mega event.
