Former Indian skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli has missed both warm-up matches against Western Australia ahead of the main round of the tournament. Although, he is training very tough in the nets for the main stage of the eighth edition of the 20-02 World Cup. After enduring a poor run-of-form with the bat for almost three years, the 33-year-old made a sensational comeback with a century in the Asia Cup 2022 against Afghanistan.
Recently, a video from the nets session of the Indian team has gone viral over social media. In this video, Virat can be seen practicing while a support staff came to him to inform him about his allotted time in the nets. The senior lad happened to say that he’ll go just after Deepak Hooda will arrive in the nets.
“Virat, your time is up,” said a support staff member to Virat.
“Hooda ayega, toh mein chala jaunga (When Hooda comes, I'll leave),” replied Kohli.

There are the assumptions that Virat might be seen in action in the two warm-up games against Australia and New Zealand on the 17th and 19th of October respectively. Notably, the men in blue will play their first match in the main round of the tournament against Pakistan on the 23rd of October.
Recently, Rohit’s men faced a humiliating defeat against Western Australia in the second T20 practice match. Now they are in Brisbane for further warm-up matches before their first encounter against the arch-rivals Pakistan.
Senior pacer Mohammed Shami will join the team in Brisbane as he has been called as the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Other than Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur have also been included as backups in the squad.
Earlier, Mohammed Siraj was named as the replacement for Bumrah in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against South Africa. Surprisingly, Siraj also won the 'player of the series award for his performance.
