Cricket has always been known as a gentleman’s game but sometimes few incidents happen to tarnish the image of this game on the international level. A similar has happened between the spectators of Pakistan and Afghanistan after the conclusion of the super-4 match during the Asia Cup 2022. Both teams played this match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

It all happened Pakistan ended up winning the match by a very small margin of one wicket in a thrilling encounter against Afghanistan. The result of the match didn’t go down well with the Afghan fans and they were completely in angst and frustrated with it. The Afghans couldn’t control their emotions and started throwing chairs at the Pakistani fans and they also beat them in the stands after the match.

Former legendary Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar shared the video of this incident on his official Twitter handle. He expressed his unhappiness with the behavior of the Afghans after the match. Akhtar went on to advise the administrators of the Afghanistan Cricket Board to teach some ethics both to players and the fans as well.

“This is what Afghan fans are doing. This is what they've done in the past multiple times. It is a game and it’s supposed to be played and taken in the right spirit. @ShafiqStanikzai your crowd & your players both need to learn a few things if you guys want to grow in the sport,” reads the caption of the video tweet posted by the fastest pacer in the world.

The video went viral on social media within minutes after the former pacer uploaded it.

Now coming to the match between both the teams, then batting first for Afghanistan, Number three batter Ibrahim Zadran scored 35 runs off 37 balls with two balls and a six to his name for Afghanistan. Other than him, opener Hazratullah Zazai was the only other batter who crossed the 20+ mark with an individual knock of 21 runs off 17 balls with four boundaries on his credit. Rawalpindi-based pacer Haris Rauf scalped two wickets for Pakistan in this low-scoring match.

While chasing the target, Pakistan couldn’t get a good start as they lost their three wickets on the score of 45 runs in 8.4 overs. The match went into a thriller when the Pakistani side faced a batting collapse and they happened to lose their nine wickets at the end of the 19th over. Vice-captain Shadab Khan played a crucial knock of 36 runs off 26 balls with a boundary and three sixes. Other than him, Iftikhar Ahmed also scored 30 runs off 33 balls with two boundaries.

Naseem Shah ended up as a hero for Pakistan when he smashed two consecutive sixes in the first two balls of the last over. It was the time when Pakistan needed 11 runs off 6 balls, eventually, Pakistan registered a thrilling one-wicket win against Afghanistan.
