There have been times when cricketers tried their luck in some other fields as well and acting in Bollywood is just one of those skills that many cricketers went on to try out of the cricketing field. Senior Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is a new name on the list who will be featuring in an upcoming Bollywood film alongside veteran Bollywood actresses Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha.

The movie named ‘Double XL’ is based on the story of two overweight women played by Huma and Sonakshi and how they deal with the issues of body-shaming in their routine lives. Later on, the duo happens to share an amazing bond. It can be seen in the trailer of the mover that their friendship gets stronger with every passing day which also helps the two tackle the obstacles due to their weight.

Interestingly, it will also be the debut movie in Bollywood for the 36-year-old Indian batter. The topic of the movie is quite a bit centric on fatphobia in society.

In this movie, Huma Qureshi has a dream of meeting Shikhar Dhawan once in her life but her mother has something to say that society used to say:

“Iss ladki ka kya karun?”

Nonetheless, Huma has aspirations of becoming a renowned sports broadcaster. Although, her dreams meet the harsh reality when she gets rejected with the fact that she is ‘healthy’ more than required for the role.

The movie is also featuring actor Zaheer Iqbal with a cameo from Shikhar Dhawan. Zaheer has also talked about the movie and the work two actresses did to get fit into the role of plus-sized women.

“Sonakshi and Huma did their diet as they were supposed to put on weight. They put on 15-20 kg for the film. So, they were just eating and eating. It was basically action, cut, and burger Lao (bring food). That’s all I remember from the shoot,” said Zaheer Iqbal to India Today.

The movie is set to release in cinemas two days later on the 14th of October, 2022.
