Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are locking horns in the second quarter-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Uttar Pradesh skipper Karan Sharma won the toss and asked Maharashtrians to bat first at the turf of Sardar Patel Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad. It all happened when skipper Karan Sharma introduced the orthodox spinner, Shiva Singh, into the attack. Gaikwad went after Shiva from the very first ball of the over. Subsequently, he smashed seven sixes in an over including a six on no-ball along with the six legal sixes in the over.

Speaking of the match between Maharashtra and UP so far, Batting first, Maharashtra posted a big total of 330 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs, thanks to the brilliant double century from the skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad himself. Other than him, middle-order batters, Ankit Bawne and Azim Kazi played the individual knocks of 37 runs each.
