The 10th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) began on 17 August 2023 as the defending champion, Jamaica Tallawahs (JMT) took on St Lucia Kings (SLK) in the first game. However, JMT managed an 11-run victory and Brandon King won the Player of the Match award. But, a video went viral where Roshon Primus hit Mohammad Amir for a gigantic six during the 17th over of SLK’s innings.
Speaking of the video, on the first delivery of that over, Amir bowled a bouncer and Primus smoked that out of the park over the deep midwicket region with a powerful shot. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views. Speaking of the match, SLK skipper, Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to field first. While batting first, JMT scored 187 runs in 20 overs. Skipper Brandon King was the highest scorer with 81 runs off 53 balls.

I am just glad that I contributed in the first game of the CPL. It is good to have some consistency. Feeling good at the crease. You tend to make the right kind decisions.”
Regarding the match, he said: “New challenge for me, the guys helped me as well. A lot of experienced guys, makes my life easier. I have an important role to play at the top. I had to build the partnership and that's all I tried to do. The guys are very experienced, and they helped me make the decisions. The spinners bowled very well.”
