According to a video released by the BCCI, as the Indian team left on their white-ball tour to Australia, old coworkers and friends reconnected, and family ties were reinforced. After the 2025 Champions Trophy, the two mainstays, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, eventually made a comeback to the Indian lineup after retiring from Test and T20 International cricket.

Additionally, Rohit was joining the team for the first time as a pure player, as Shubman Gill had taken his place as the captain of the ODI format. Before getting on the bus from the airport, the new captain and his successor gave one another a hearty embrace. Rohit even offered Kohli a small bow before the two legends hugged each other inside the bus. In the bus, Captain Gill also had a pleasant moment with Shreyas Iyer and Kohli.

On social media, a video of Rohit giving Kohli a salute went viral, depicting the genuine camaraderie and smiles inside the bus. After that, Rohit got into the bus and gave Kohli, who was sitting in the front, a big hug.

The gesture was straightforward but effective. Kohli's response demonstrated a great deal of respect for Rohit, while Rohit's salute was full of pride and devotion. Not only were two teammates exchanging greetings, but two seasoned cricketers were also acknowledging their joint responsibilities as senior pillars of Indian cricket, their journey, and their legacy.

With debates raging around the future of India's seasoned core, both Rohit and Kohli enter this series with high hopes. However, as the team bus moved towards the airport, supporters witnessed something more profound: camaraderie, solidarity, and the spirit that keeps Indian cricket moving ahead.

In their first reunion since winning the Champions Trophy in March, India's ODI team will begin a three-match series in Australia on October 19. Rohit and Kohli are playing competitively for the first time since the 2025 IPL season. Midway through the IPL, the two appeared content as they retired from Test cricket and boarded the plane to Australia.

Shubman Gill took Rohit's place as the one-day international team's skipper two years before the 2027 ODI World Cup. Many people do not believe that Rohit and Kohli will be able to play in the World Cup, which will be held in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, because of ongoing doubts about their fitness and match readiness.
