Rohit Sharma vs WI, 2nd Test (Image Source: Twitter)
On 20 July 2023, Team India locked horns with the West Indies in the Port of Spain in the second Test of the series. After winning the first match, the Men in Blue were looking for another win to clean-sweep the series. While the home side were looking for a win to avoid another series loss against Rohit Sharma and his men. Speaking of the match, Rohit won the toss and opted to bat first.
He said: “We were looking to bat first. Nice and sunny as well. Pitch will get slower as the match goes on, so okay with batting first. One change: Shardul has pulled up a niggle - a groin issue, it brings Mukesh on for a debut. Lots of memories from the rivalry, especially our batters trying to put their hands up against great fast bowlers. Even now you have to work hard to get a result, especially the batters. Scoring isn't easy. We got a lot of positives and hope to get the right result.”

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal put up a 139-run partnership for the first wicket
While batting first, skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to open. But, a video went viral where Rohit was hitting a huge six by a pull shot and reached the 50-run mark in some style.
The incident happened during the 19th over. On the second delivery of that over, Roach bowled a short ball and Rohit pulled it over square leg. With that hit, he reached the 50-run mark off 74 balls. However, their partnership of 139 runs got ended when Jaiswal got out for 57 runs off 74 balls, including nine fours and one six. Jason Holder took the wicket. But, Rohit failed to score a century as he got out on 80 runs off 143 balls, including nine fours and two sixes.
