Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is back home and has made his first statement after the loss to Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 via a video that went viral on Wednesday. The 36-year-old was spending time with his family after the heartbreaking loss to the Men in Yellow.

Despite winning ten games in succession, team India came up short against Australia in the game that mattered. Rahul Dravid revealed later how the players had wept as they failed to win the ODI World Cup title in front of a huge crowd. 

Travis Head scored a memorable century which helped his side win the ODI World Cup title for a record sixth time. Rohit Sharma has taken a break from the white ball format during the South African tour. The right-handed batter will be back for the test series where he will be leading the Indian side.

Nearly three weeks after India’s heartbreaking ODI World Cup 2023 final loss, Rohit Sharma has broken his silence. The Indian skipper’s team has put out a video where we can see the 36-year-old speak about his feelings on the crushing loss to Australia in Ahmedabad.

As the video began Rohit Sharma began by telling how much his family and friends had supported him. “I had no idea how to come back from this. The first few days I didn’t know what to do. You know my family, my friends they kept me going and kept things light around me which was quite helpful”

The Indian skipper then touched upon the most heartbreaking day of his distinguished cricket career. “It wasn’t easy to digest but life moves on. You have to move in life but honestly, it was tough and it wasn’t easy to move on”

Rohit Sharma made his ODI debut for India in 2007 just have that year’s ODI World Cup debacle. Since then the 36-year-old has established himself as one of the greats of the format. Opening the batting has done Rohit Sharma a world of good as he is the only batter to score three ODI double centuries.

“I’ve always grown up watching 50-over World Cup and to me, that was the ultimate prize. We’ve worked all these years for that World Cup and it is disappointing if you don’t get through it, and you don’t get what you have been looking for all this while. You get disappointed and frustrated at times, I thought we did everything from our side”

Speaking about the ODI World Cup final this is what Rohit Sharma had to say “And if someone was to ask me what went wrong, because we won ten games and we made few mistakes in those games. Those mistakes happen because you cannot play a perfect game every time. If I look at it otherwise, I am proud of the team just the way we played was outstanding because you don’t get to perform like that every World Cup”

The Indian skipper also spoke about how people showered love on him wherever he went while on his vacation. The video with a simple message from Rohit Sharma where he said “It gives you motivation to get back and start working again and look for another ultimate prize”
