Watch: Rajasthan Royal's Tribute video for Shane Warne will leave you in tears

In a bid to pay tribute to the late Shane Warne, Rajasthan players will be wearing a special jersey, with “S23” written on their collars in their next game against Mumbai on Saturday. For the unversed, legendary Australian spinner, Shane Warner passed away on 4^th March 2022 due to heart failure while vacationing in Thailand.

Shane Warne was one of the most prominent figures in the Rajasthan set-up in the Indian T20 League. Under his leadership, Rajasthan won the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 League in 2008 after beating Chennai by 3 wickets in the final. Warne finished that season as the second-highest wicket-taker, picking 19 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 21.26.

Ahead of the game against Mumbai, Rajasthan have now also come up with a special tribute video, which they have posted on their Twitter handle. In the video, numerous current players of the franchise can be seen talking about the legendary Australian spinner.

The likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson spoke about his personality and how his presence would make a huge difference in the team environment. “The belief he could instil in others, I think, was the biggest thing I took away, you know. Think he made you feel 10 feet tall when you were around him,” Jos said in the video. “I think his wishes have and always will be with him,” said Yuzvendra Chahal who got his first hat-trick at Rajasthan Royals.

Besides, a special area at the DY Patil Stadium, venue for RR vs MI, has been turned into a Warne Tribute Gallery, which all the ticket-holding fans will be able to visit and experience.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan are currently flying high in the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League 2022. The franchise have managed to secure 6 wins out of 8 matches and thus are sitting at number two on the points table. They have won their last three consecutive matches and would be looking to continue the winning momentum.
