Watch: Radha Yadav and Jemimah Rodrigues console Marizanne Kapp after India defeated South Africa to win the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

Indian team defeated South Africa on November 2, 2025 in Navi Mumbai in the final to win the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. While the whole of India rejoiced, South Africa continued to experience heart-breaks in white-ball ICC events.

Despite the Indian team celebrating their maiden World Cup win, the Indian players didn’t forget to show compassion and also consoled their South African counterparts, many of whom play with them in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Amongst them was Marizanne Kapp. Kapp enjoyed a stellar campaign at the 2025 Women’s World Cup, including a stellar performance in the semi-final against England, taking 5 for 20 in seven overs, helping South Africa reach the final. 

She also left Indian legend Jhulan Goswami behind to become the all-time leading wicket-taker in Women’s World Cup history. She contributed with the bat as well, including a crucial 42 runs to help South Africa post a formidable 319/7 against England in the semis. She has also smashed an unbeaten 68 off just 43 balls and took 3 for 20 in a dominant win over Pakistan.

During India's celebrations, Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav shared a touching moment as they consoled a distraught Marizanne Kapp, who was playing in her fifth ODI World Cup. 

The gesture had a deeper meaning because Radha, Jemimah, and Kapp are Delhi Capitals (DC) teammates in the Women's Premier League. The trio has played together in all three WPL seasons, helping DC reach the finals each time.

On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana hugged Laura Wolvaardt and shared words of consolation, while Jemimah Rodrigues did the same with multiple South African women’s players.
